Construction Safety Bulletin – February 16, 2018: The first meeting of the “construction Safety Committee” will be held on February 16 at the Ramallah-Nablus Road site.
The committee, chaired by the minister of interior, will review the safety situation in the area and discuss the construction regulations.
It will be the first time the committee has met to address the construction safety issue.
The meeting is expected to begin at 11 a.m. local time (12:00 a.g.m.) on Saturday.
The first phase of the road project, which will be finished by 2020, is expected as early as March, and it is estimated that construction on the project will begin as early this year.
The second phase is expected this year and will be completed in 2021.
The third phase will be complete in 2021 and is estimated to be completed by 2020.
The fourth phase is planned to be finished in 2021, with the first phase finished by 2024.
Construction Safety Bureau Chairman Mohammad al-Qadhi said in a statement that he and the chairman of the construction board of the Palestinian Authority, the committee’s chairman, Mohammad Qawasma, agreed that the first meeting is necessary.
He said the committee was set up to provide guidance to all construction operators.
Construction safety is a sensitive issue in the West Bank, where Palestinian officials say construction workers have been killed, injured or kidnapped while building infrastructure.
